Since 2013, our team has been working with our partners in some of the world's most challenging sociopolitical contexts, helping institutions and organizations tackle some of the greatest issues of our time with better information tools and data science.
COMBATING ONLINE EXTREMISM IN THE MIDDLE EAST
We have been actively supporting local institutions combating online extremism since 2016 with digital media analysis software to monitor extremist propaganda, develop and deploy counter-narratives and evaluate impact on public perceptions.
PROTECTING BORDERS IN THE LEVANT
Since 2014, we have been building capacities of local security institutions in Lebanon to combat and prevent cross-border terrorism with better information management systems to monitor evolving threats and manage capacities to deter and respond.
STRENGTHENING MARITIME SECURITY IN THE HORN OF AFRICA
Since 2016, we have been active in the Horn of Africa, building the capacity of the Somaliland Coastguard to protect the coastline against evolving piracy threats through faster reporting from the sea to the capital, powered by AKTEK software.
PROTECTING CRITICAL NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN LATIN AMERICA
AKTEK has deployed an adapted contextual intelligence system to one of the largest energy companies in Colombia, building its capacity to adjust operations to the evolving political context, protect critical infrastructure against attacks from guerrilla groups and maximize shared value of national resources with local community stakeholders.
AMPLIFYING LOCAL VOICES IN EASTERN EUROPE
Since 2017, we have been active in Ukraine supporting the government reform process by building the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to better listen to public voices in social media, map influencers and monitor popular issues across time to ensure advocacy campaigns are aligned with evolving public aspirations.
DETECTING HATE SPEECH AT SCALE IN THE BALKANS
In 2018, AKTEK used Machine Learning to identify extremism and hate speech in public social media, forums and news sites in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our aim was to understand the nature of online radicalization and the challenges it poses for social cohesion.
